the getai performance
yesterday's performance at bukit panjang was crap...it's so saddening that our dance had to end this way...why did nj even accept it on behalf of the 4 dancers!i mean we've slogged so much for closing night alr.danced so hard,sacrificed so much of our time,stretched our mental will to the maximum in order to continue dancing a dance that we've been practising since nov last yr, so why can't they just let us rest. anw let me continue with my story.
When we reached the place,we found out that the stage was set up in the middle of an open field and the soil was damn soft and disgusting*ewww*the stage was super small with some musical instruments at the back.during rehearsal, the ppl in charge of the lightings and smoke were damn idiotic. they kept "spraying" smoke and shining the glaring spotlights in our faces and eyes.we couldn't see anything at all plus the smoke was super stinky and uncomfortable.the flooring was also not meant for dancing either cause there was alot of friction.claire and a few western dancers had the bottom part of their pointe shoes torn i think.they shd have just danced in soft shoes cause anyway very few ppl there would actually know how to appreciate ballet and understand the pain they're going through.everyone was just so occupied with their food.it was really like some getai performace.there were even ah peks who were wearing half unbuttoned shirts and drinking beer or whatever alcoholic drinks.if that's not bad enough,the emcee had to interpret our dance "wu chun feng" as "chun zhi wu"...wth...he just changed the name of the dance as he wished...idoiot...but i guess it's rather fortunate that he did so cause at least we didn't spoil the real dance's reputation.anw back to how getai-ish the whole performance was...the item before us was some ppl singing yue 4 liang4 dai4 biao3 wo3 de4 xin1...and the ppl dancing were wearing those super shimmering dresses and dancing some er dance if that's what u call that.Their dresses were quite revealing and not very pretty too.but it was quite relaxing dancing out dance cause we were all fooling around on stage.i heard ppl talking on stage and i think some ppl either forgot their actions or they forgot to come out when they're supposed to.hilarious!
After clearing up, some of the girls decided to go bukit panjang plaza to eat and gossip...for the first time in my whole life, i sat the lrt!!!it was so cool lah...like the skytrain in changi airport...but i felt really suaku,like a tourist.wanzhen,aaron,jas and nat went home first,leaving only me,shun,peck,sara and yun behind.ate at mos burger until the workers there started staring at us.had a great time chatting over a nice meal and during the long ride in the train.i realised that rv's culture is very different from st nicks' and our pov on certian matters is worlds apart.we also got to hear yun hsiu's sweet story.haha makes u feel like the world is not all evil afterall =)
